The Buonconsiglio Castle, with its frescoes from the late Middle Ages, is the largest and most important monumental complex of the Trentino Alto Adige region. It was the residence of the prince-bishops of Trento and it’s located just a few steps from the very city centre.
From 1545 to 1563 the city hosted the Council of Trento and recently it has become a known destination for all those who want to visit its Christmas markets in winter and its numerous attractions and cultural events throughout the year. Piazza Duomo with the San Vigilio Cathedral and the Neptune Fountain can be your starting point for a walking visit, which will lead you to “Le Albere” district where you’ll admire and possibly visit the famous museum of natural sciences MUSE, designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano. Not only history and culture, but also architecture and science will enrich your visit here, not forgetting the taste of local food in one of the several restaurants of the city centre and a glass of the loca Trento DOC wine. Cheers!
