Crystal clear blue waters, almond and orange trees all around, historical sites and enchanting cities: all these wonders in a unique island – the largest of the Mediterranean sea- and a unique tour.  From Greek temples to Roman and Byzantine mosaics, from the magic of Palermo, the city of  a thousand facets with its Palatina Chapel, to Monreale and its Cathedral; from medieval hamlets such as Erice and Cefalù to the incredible mosaics of Piazza Armerina and the historic city centre of Siracusa. A tour in city is all this and much more, not forgetting the food and the charm of local people: a land full of history and long traditions. 


Tour programme

Day 1:

PALERMO

Arrival at the hotel in Palermo and dinner at your leisure.  

Day 2:

PALERMO

Hotel breakfast and meeting with your guide for a visit to Palermo, the capital city of the region, stretching over a wide bay between Monte Pellegrino and a beautiful the sea.  You’ll start from the very heart of the city, from the palaces dating back to the Arabic and Norman era; you’ll move to the palatina Chapel, in the Norman palace, with its throne and Byzantine mosaics. Lunch at the restaurant and continuation to Pretoria square, to admire its imposing fountain which dates back to 1554 and made of  Carrara marble.  In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Church of San Giovanni dei Teatini and the Palazzo Mirto, an enchanting barouque palace.  You’ll love walking into the typical market in the center, enjoying the Sicilian atmosphere.  Return to the hotel, dinner  

Day 3:

MONREALE- THE SALT ROAD- MARSALA

Hotel breakfast and departure to Monreale, where you’ll visit the magnificent cathedral, the most beautiful Norman church in Sicily. You will admire admire a series of mosaics on a golden background of rare beauty. Departure to the western coast of Sicily, heading to Trapani and Marsala. The journey will take us to the so called “Salt Road”, admiring the incredible white landscape of salt flats and windmills. Lunch at your leisure and departure for Marsala, renowned for its wine. You’ll visit one of the historical wine cellars and of course, we’ll taste Marsala wine. Continuation to Mazara del Vallo, and important fishermen port and with an historic center called “Kasbah” for its narrow streets and courtyards. Visit of the Dancing satyr museum, a bronze statue found off the port in 1998 by a fishing boat.  Accommodation at the hotel near Marsala, dinner and overnight.  


Day 4:

AGRIGENTO- PIAZZA ARMERINA- SIRACUSA

Hotel breakfast and departure to a guided visit to the archaeological site "Valley of the temples", one of the most outstanding examples of Greek art and architecture, listed by Unesco. Visit to the Temple of Concordia, Temple of Heracles and Temple of Juno, lunch at your leisure and departure to Piazza Armerina for a guided visit to the Roman villa, built between the 3rd and the 4th century and listed by Unesco, to admire the mosaics describing the life of that time.
Continuation to Siracusa, dinner and overnight. 


Day 5:

SIRACUSA- ACIREALE

Hotel breakfast and departure to a guided visit of Siracusa, founded on Ortigia island in 733 BC by Greek populations coming from Corinth. Its exceptional city centre has been listed by Unesco as a world heritage. You’ll visit the Greek theatre, carved into the stone, the roman Amphitheatre, and you’ll have time for a stroll in  ortigia city centre, to admire its Cathedral, its fountain and to enjoy the great heritage. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, continuation to Acireale. Dinner and accommodation. 

Day 6:

ETNA -TAORMINA - ACIREALE

Hotel breakfast and departure to an excursion to Etna, the highest active volcano of Europe, listed by Unesco. We will get up to Sapienza mountain hut: from here, you will enjoy a spectacular view from the Eolie islands to Calabria region. Lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, we will continue to Taormina for a visit and some free time for a stroll in one of the most visited sites of Italy. return to the hotel, dinner. 

Day 7:

ACIREALE

Hotel breakfast and departure. End of services
