4 Days

Description

At about 900 meters, the Piné Plateau extends parallel to the Cembra Valley, forming a single tourist environment. The distinctive sign of the Piné landscape is the presence of beautiful lakes. Meadows and woods cover the plateau, where biotopes and peat bogs complete the scenery. The Cembra Valley, with a deep, narrow gorge, formed by the erosion of Avisio River, has an unmistakable feature in the terraces on the steep hillsides, which descend towards the river. This is where the grapes are cultivated for famous wines and fine grappas.

The remarkable durability of this rock has made it very popular as a paving material for urban spaces. The trade in porphyry has become one of the local population's main sources of income. Pride in this local, unique and precious material and praise for this specific activity of Valle di Cembra have given rise to the idea of opening the world's first porphyry and street furniture museum. 'CASA PORFIDO' aims at documenting, valorizing and popularizing the various skills involved in the quarrying of porphyry. One of the striking characteristics of this museum is the harmony between tradition and ultra-modern multimedia tools. Sanctuary of Madonna di Pinè

Hotel breakfast. We depart to visit the Sanctuary of Madonna di Pinè: the most famous and most visited monument to the Madonna in the Trentino area, and also the destination of many pilgrims who also come from neighboring dioceses to this place of hope and conversion. According to the tradition, the Madonna appeared 5 times, between 1729 and 1730, to a shepherd girl named Domenica Targa. St. Anna’s sanctuary-church is now a late baroque building, dating back to 1730. Inside, the St. Anna’s altarpiece, a work by Francesco Unterpergher from Cavalese, is of particular value. Not far away rises the Monument to the Redeemer, a work produced in the nineteen hundreds in neo-renaissance style. Inside, there is a saintly staircase and a wooden crucifixion group. At the spot known as “la Comparsa” (“the Apparition”), a natural sized group in cast iron represents the Madonna’s first apparition to Domenica Targa. We will cover the “gravity hill” also known as a magnetic hill, mystery hill, mystery spot, gravity road, or anti-gravity hill, is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces an optical illusion, making a slight downhill slope appear to be an uphill slope.
