Description

Saint Vigilio (in the local dialect known as “San Vili”), today patron of the city of Trento, was a bishop and martyr who was contested by the local population during his attempt to convert them.  This hiking pathway is organized on a few stages and it goes along the route followed by Saint Vigilius, from Madonna di Campiglio heading to Trento, running away from locals.  The path goes through beautiful landscapes and many interesting evidences of the legend and other tourist attractions. 

Day1
Departure from Trento at 5.pm. arrival in Madonna di Campiglio and hotel accommodation with dinner.  

Day 2: From Madonna di Campiglio to Bocenago
Lenght: 21 km
Difference in height: 150m+, 900m-

Hotel breakfast and meeting with Alberto, your guide, who will go with you along Saint Vigilus legend.  The first stage sees important natural attraction: your departure point is located in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites - Unesco World Heritage - as well as in the Adamello Brenta Natural Park.  The valley is rich in water, flowing into Santa Massenza plant. Important attraction you will see are: Saint Vigilius church in Pinzolo with frescos on its walls, sain Stephen’s church in Carisolo, an ancient glas factory. Packed lunch.  Arrival in bocenago, accommodation at the hotel and dinner.   

Day 3: from Bocenago to Saone 
Lenght:19 km
Difference in height: +250m. -500m 

Hotel breakfast and departure. Today  we will go through Spiazzo Rendena, Tione and reaching the little church dedicated to Saint Vigilius. You will also walk along the Sarca river, which springs from Adamello glacier and flows into Lake Garda. Arrival in Saone and accommodation at the hotel with dinner.  

Day 4 from Saone to Stenico  
Lenght 13 km
Difference in height: + 500m –350m

Hotel breakfast and departure for a vey interesting stage of the San Vili path. Todays features are especially the ancient medieval hamlet of Iron, totally decimated by 1630 plague and for this reason called “the phantom hamlet”, and the visit to Stenico Castle.  Arrival in the hotel in stenico, dinner and overnight.  

Day 5 from Stenico to Santa Massenza 
Lenght 26 km
Difference in height +550m, -950m 

Hotel breakfast and departure for the fourth and our last stage, from Stenico to Santa Massenza.  We will admire the churches in Stenico and Dorsino, with frescoes dating back to 1500, San Lorenzo in Banale hamlet, and beautifil lanscapes and canyons. Arrival in Santa Massenza, bus transfer to Trento and overnight.  

Day 6 
Hotel breakfast and meeting with your guide for a walking guided visit to Trento city centre, starting from the main square and Saint Vigilius Cathedral. End of services.
